Experienced College Counselors
At each ASA CAP program, a team of experienced college counselors will lead students in their discovery of the college admissions process. CAP college counselors are dedicated, experienced counseling professionals who are currently working in the field as college admissions officers or high school college counselors. Many counselors have real college admissions experience and provide priceless inside knowledge about the process.
One-on-one Counseling
Each college counselor will work closely with a small group of students, overseeing each student's development individually as the program progresses. During the course of the program each student will have at least two individual counseling sessions with their college counselor. These personalized sessions give you the opportunity to take lessons learned in larger college admissions workshops and apply them to your individual experience. Together with your counselor you'll work to define your list of target schools, refine your extracurricular resume and discuss ways to reach your admissions goals in the upcoming year or years.
College Admissions Workshops
During most evenings the group will gather for a workshop focusing on one distinct aspect of the college admissions process. Workshops will provide you with information about the topic at hand and will offer a venue for questions and questioning. Workshops will also provide a very practical time to apply your skills and test your knowledge. As you start your college selection or search you'll have time during the workshop to learn about internet tools available to you and to begin building your list.
