ASA in Costa Rica Community Service Activities
The community service component allows you deepen your appreciation of Costa Rican life and improve fluency as you work alongside locals on service projects. After a training session, students will meet 3 times a week for approximately 3 hours at a time. Projects include working at a nursing home, working with young girls at a local orphanage, as well as working on various environmental and recycling projects in the surrounding countryside and national parks. The service projects are demanding but you'll also have some time to unwind and maybe even play some soccer with the locals at the end of the day. Students will receive official certification of completion of 35 hours of community service.
