Your summer home is the beautiful 16th century villa of Convitto della Calza, ideally situated in the Oltarno district in the heart of Florence close to the Pitti Palace and the Ponte Vecchio. The entrance of Calza leads to a beautiful Renaissance courtyard and cloisters, a perfect place to relax or catch up with friends, and classes take place in magnificent rooms surrounded by original 16th century frescoes. Students reside in air-conditioned double or triple rooms, each with its own bathroom, and are supervised by Resident Advisors (RAs) and Directors. There is a large library, a multimedia room, several recreation rooms as well as outdoor gardens. The historic environment is enhanced by state of the art audio visual and computer facilities. From this comfortable base, you will set out to explore the great city of Florence and the province of Tuscany.
You will have a chance to explore some of the local trattorias or restaurants for lunch and you will soon be able to navigate the city like a native Florentine. The modern day culture is vibrant, with shops and restaurants for you to enjoy although the love of tradition keeps the aesthetics and look of the city much the same as it was 500 years ago.
Explore the Mercato Centrale, gaze at Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo or simply browse narrow streets and piazzas in the Centro Storico. From the street vendors gathering on the Ponte Vecchio to the wonders of art in the Ufizzi, and the hills of Chianti across the river, Florence is a wonderful place to live and study and you will quickly feel at home.
